Probably not.
0% financing usually carries many restrictions that are not always
beneficial to the buyer. In most cases the 0% offer restricts terms
to 24-36 months, which greatly increases the monthly payment. Because
manufacturers are offering no cost financing strict credit criteria
is applied. In fact, only about 10% of consumers qualified for the
0% offer. In addition, a 10% or higher down payment may be required
along with the forfeiture of the rebates offered. When you forfeit
the rebate the dealer keeps the rebate. Finally chances are that
the 0% won’t be offered on the model you are interested.
In most cases
auto buyers will benefit more by taking the rebate and financing
the lower amount. The safest way to make a decision you won’t regret
later is to stop by the credit union first and see how much you’ll
save with a pre-approved loan. When you begin the purchase with
financing already approved you start the negotiations to your advantage.
